FAQ's about Pure
Power! Motor Oils
Is Pure Power Motor
Oil a synthetic?
NO. Pure Power! Motor Oil is produced using the purest mineral oil base
stocks and then is compounded using proprietary methods and equipment
with the latest American Petroleum Institute approved inhibitors and anti-wear
agents. This engineering results in extremely high film strength (stronger
not slicker) and very high TBN reserves, which produces the highest quality
motor oil delivering extremely high performance reliability.
Is Pure Power!
Motor Oil superior to synthetic motor oils?
YES. Synthetic motor oils have gained popularity in the last several years.
However, generally unknown to the public, synthetic motor oils were engineered
to be beneficial in extreme hot conditions while towing heavy loads, or
driving for long periods, or in extreme cold conditions where the synthetic
motor oil could provide easier starting in icy temperatures. Synthetic
motor oils are a problem for recycling. Pure Power! Motor Oils out perform
synthetics in all categories.
Will Pure Power!
Motor Oil void my manufacturer warranty?
NO. Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, 15 U.S. SS 2301-1312 (1982),
and general principles of the Federal Trade Commission Act, a manufacturer
may not require the use of any brand of motor oil (or other article) to
maintain the factory warranty, unless the manufacturer provides the item
free of charge. Pure Power! Motor Oil extends the oil change period to
7,500 miles for vehicles within factory warranty period.
Can Pure Power!
Motor Oil increase my fuel economy?
YES. Tests have proven Pure Power! Motor Oil will reduce friction in an
auto/truck engine and thereby make the engine more fuel-efficient. Most
drivers experience an increase in fuel economy of approximately 10% or
more depending on driving habits. However, since tests have also shown
a significant increase in horsepower, some drivers tend to drive their
vehicles harder, thereby wasting their fuel economy.
Can I extend my
oil change interval by using Pure Power! Motor Oil?
YES. Pure Power! Motor Oil surpasses all requirements and is API certified
long drain for vehicles that are still within the factory warranty mileage
period. According to most owner/operator manuals and an article in Consumer's
Report Magazine, motor oil should be changed at 7,500 miles for vehicles
still within the factory warranty. Pure Power! Motor Oil can extend the
oil change period for vehicles out of factory warranty to 12,500 miles
providing the TBN remains at 7 or higher.
Can Pure Power!
Motor Oil decrease emissions?
YES. Emission Tests have proven Pure Power! Motor Oil to be significant
in reducing HC and CO in gasoline, diesel and natural gas fueled engines.
Are Pure Power!
Motor Oils licensed by API?
YES. Pure Power! Motor Oils are licensed by American Petroleum Institute
with the latest classifications. Pure Power! R & D stays on the leading
edge of new categories. Always buy motor oil displaying an API Service
Symbol and Certification Mark that identifies quality engine oils for
gasoline and diesel powered vehicles. Oils displaying the API Marks meet
performance requirements set by U.S. and international vehicle and engine
manufacturers and the lubricant industry. API monitors oil quality by
a marketplace sampling and testing program.
What weight and quality motor oil should I use?
Your owner/operator manual prescribes a minimum SAE weight and performance
quality for your engine's motor oil. A greater quality (but same weight)
may be used, but not a lesser quality oil. The weight of oil is shown
by a description such as SAE 10W/30, SAE 15W/40 etc. This refers to the
viscosity, which is the measure of the oil's thickness and ability to
flow at certain temperatures. All single weight oil such as SAE 30 has
been obsolete since 1960 and should never be used for engines newer than
1960. There are no performance requirements for single weight oils therefore
they do not contain anti-wear agents. The oil's performance level is described
by API's "S" (Service) and "C" (Commercial) categories.
The latest "S" category is SJ for all automotive engines presently
in use. Introduced in the API Service Symbol in 1996. SH is current only
when used in combination with certain "C" categories. All other
"S" categories are obsolete and should be used only when specifically
recommended by the manufacturer. For Commercial use CH-4 is the latest
category and was introduced in 1998. CG-4, CF-4, CF-2 and CF are older
but still current API Commercial Categories. Equipment operators should
always refer to owners' manuals for manufacturers' recommended oil performance
levels and viscosities.
Can Pure Power!
Motor Oil be used in other than gasoline engines?
YES. Pure Power! Motor Oils are API licensed for use in gasoline, diesel,
turbo, supercharged, natural gas, air or liquid cooled engines. Pure Power!
Motor Oil and Engine Treatment is excellent for use in motor homes, heavy-duty
tow vehicles, off-road and 4X4, farm and construction equipment, truck
fleets, pleasure boats and 4-cycle motorcycles. Pure Power! even provides
the same excellent results for extreme high performance racing applications.
If you drive a small, medium or large engine, in everyday stop and go
street driving or long distance highway driving or extreme racing conditions
Pure Power! delivers.
How will Pure Power!
Motor Oils benefit me?
Pure Power! Motor Oils can help your engine run cleaner and longer to
increase gas mileage, extend oil drain intervals, lower emissions and
decrease friction, which causes engine wear. This can save you time and
money at the gas pump and the repair shop.
Can Pure Power!
Motor Oils help the environment?
YES. Pure Power! Motor Oils are friendly to the environment by lowering
emissions, increasing gas mileage and extending oil drain intervals (toxic
waste). All Pure Power! products and packaging are 100% recyclable.
Do I need Pure
Power! Engine Treatment if I use good quality & proper weight motor
oil?
YES. If you are using a name brand of good quality and proper weight motor
oil, you may want to test the TBN. Most brand name motor oils have a TBN
of 7-8 as new oil. Depending on the anti-wear agents, your driving habits,
and other factors, the TBN could drop below 7 (creating acid in your engine)
in approximately 500-1,000 miles of driving. There are some well-known
brands of motor oil that test below 7 right off the shelf. This means
that some brands of motor oil are acidic before you put them into your
engine. Adding Pure Power Engine Treatment at proper intervals will raise
the TBN of your motor oil, increase mileage and horsepower and retard
corrosion, in your engine. Pure Power! Motor Oil is engineered with a
TBN range of 12-14 and therefore you do not need to use Pure Power! Engine
Treatment with when using Pure Power! Motor Oil.
Why is Pure Power!
Motor Oil more expensive than my present name brand oil?
Pure Power! Products are made using only the purest base stocks and highest
rated anti-wear and detergent agents. Pure Power! Motor Oils are engineered
to be more superior in anti-wear and anti-corrosive agents than any other
motor oil readily available today. Pure Power! Motor Oils have a TBN range
of 13-14. This means a stronger motor oil that performs better, provides
more protection, and maintains its viscosity longer.
